Summary

  • Position Summary

    30 hour salaried position, salary prorated to $43000 - $64000 / year

    The Knowledge Services Specialist maintains, supports, and enhances a wide range of technologies and systems to provide innovative library services and ensure access to the library's extensive range of online information resources and digital collections. 

    Job Responsibilities:

    • Responds to calls for help, troubleshoots and solves hardware and software problems across multiple campuses, monitors overall system performance, implements improvements, and works with the Director to develop long-range technology plans. 
    • Communicates with and manages relationships with vendors, compiles usage statistics. 
    • Provides customer service to colleagues throughout the MaineHealth system in a fast-paced clinical environment.  
    • Pay range is commensurate with professional medical librarian position; MLIS is desirable, but not required. 
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree or minimum of five years' equivalent work experience in related field.
    • License/Certifications: N/A
    • Experience: See "Education." Knowledge of medical libraries, customer service principles and biomedical information resources, typically acquired during two or more years of related experience.
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, integrated library systems, specialized library software and database management.
    • Strong interpersonal, communication and writing skills; ability to work collaboratively and effectively with other departments, institutions, and staff of all levels.
    • Demonstrated analytic and problem solving skills, and demonstrated ability to perform with a high level of independence.
