Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The Application Support Specialist role is accountable for supporting the organization’s EpicCare Ambulatory and Practice Management application support needs in a healthcare setting. This is the second level of a three level career path. Support needs may include, but are not limited to, functionality and training to support clinical, fiscal, IS, and practice management operations within the MaineHealth model system; development and implementation of a quality assurance process to include practice outreach; and supporting end user needs by serving as the primary application support resource for Maine Medical Partners. Work is performed under minimal supervision. Participation as a member of our Tier I Help Desk support team is required in this position. Responsible for supporting the organizations EPIC Clinical, Practice Management application support needs, which include: Epic training of providers, practice staff and MMP administrative office staff; development and implementation of a quality assurance process to include Practice Outreach; maintaining application functionality within the MaineHealth model system and supporting end user needs by serving as the primary Application Support resource.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent in experience.
    • License/Certifications: Credentialed in 1-3 Epic-focused modules required within 6 months of hire date.
    • Experience: Experience 2-3 years in healthcare related field. 2+ years Application Support experience.
    • Knowledge of Clinical and Practice Management practice workflow. Strong business knowledge of Clinical and Practice Management operations.
    • Proficiency in Epic system functionality.
    • Demonstrated mentoring skills and seeks ways to improve team, self, and performance.
    • Demonstrates facilitation skills by initiating, leading and communicating discussions.
    • Leads and assists with varied projects including implementations and go lives.
    • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
    • Conveys authority and confidence.
    • Excellent Customer Service.
    • Ability to perform functions independently.
    • Ability to work effectively throughout the organization by establishing effective working relationships with all departments and levels of medical staff, hospital staff and physician practice administration.
    • Ability to organize, plan and complete projects efficiently and in accordance with quality standards.
    • Skills in exercising initiative, judgment, problem solving and decision making.
    • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbal or written with audiences of varying sizes and the ability to tailor communication to the target audience.
    • Ability to travel throughout various locations in the organization.
    • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
