    • The Center Manager is a full-time Certified Intentional Peer Support position working to implement and supervise peer support activities at Maine Behavioral Healthcare’s Peer Support Center. The Center Manager will self-identify as someone with the lived experience of a navigating challenges maintaining mental health and/or is in recovery from substance use. The Center Manager must be able to demonstrate a clear understanding of Intentional Peer Support values and approaches to peer support relationships. The Center Manager will foster an environment of inclusion, respect for all people, mutuality, and personal accountability at each Center.

      The Center Manager will support the Peer Support Center in providing the best possible supports to their community. The manager supervises the staff at each Center, manages volunteers, ensures robust programming and addresses any needs that arise at the center. The Center Manager will enhance, develop, and maintain a series of recovery-focused, structured group activities as well as vocational opportunities and trainings in the Peer Support Center. The Center Manager is a crucial component in ensuring Center participants have the ability to access the supports they choose and have a voice in decision-making. 

      The Center Manager conducts outreach in the community to ensure area service providers and stakeholders are aware of the programming and opportunities at the Center. The Center Manager will oversee all aspects of the Peer Support Center, including financial and budgetary requirements, space/facilities management, volunteers, staff supervision, outreach, and community resource linkages. The Center Manager is responsible for implementing and maintaining a database that captures information for performance measures and outcomes related to Center services. The Center Manager is responsible for collecting and reporting all data, performance measures, and outcomes for the Department of Health and Human Services.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: Bachelor’s degree in relevant field preferred
    • License/Certifications: Valid Driver’s license and appropriate level of automobile liability insurance.
    • Experience: Certification in Intentional Peer Support is required. Ability to maintain certification (meet co-reflection and continuing education requirements). Experience supervising Certified Intentional Peer Support Specialists (CIPSS) is preferred;  Management experience, 2 years or more is preferred
    • Demonstrated understanding of Consumer-Operated Service Program models
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively supervise staff.
    • Demonstrated ability to effectively collect and report data is required. Database management is a key component of this position
    • Computer and Technology proficiency required with ability to demonstrate computer and technology skills in using Microsoft Office and Outlook email is required
    • Good communication skills and an ability to establish rapport with consumers, community members, community mental health providers, MBH staff and leadership, and other resource providers are required.
    • Demonstrates ability to utilize strengths-based approach to problem solving
    • Ability to work a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends
    • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with a variety of volunteers, fellow workers, supervisors, communities, resources and cultures
    • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively
