Admission Discharge UR RN-Psychiatric Unit

Under the general direction and supervision of the Behavioral Health Nurse Manager, the Inpatient Admission/Discharge/Utilization Review (ADUR) Coordinator will be primarily responsible for patient flow on the unit. The ADUR Coordinator, in collaboration with the BHU providers, will review referrals and facilitate the admission of patients to the unit in a timely manner. This position will also provide the utilization review functions by ensuring the completion of the initial authorization, performing ongoing review of current inpatient clients and assisting in setting up provider reviews with insurers, when indicated.. (see Utilization Review functions listed below). The ADUR Coordinator will work with a variety referral resources, the Emergency Department, Maine Behavioral Health Crisis Teams, as well as the nurse manager to ensure a timely and smooth admission and/or transfer process. This position will also be responsible for auditing standard work for admission, discharge and transfers to ensure compliance. The ADUR Coordinator will monitor patient records and assure the completion of the required documentation in the patient charts, including assisting with completion of Treatment Plans. The ADUR coordinator will assist the BHU Social Worker with timely transitions of patients to the next level of care and will conduct post discharge follow up calls to patients discharged from the BHU. The ADUR coordinator may be needed, at times, to assist with direct care needs of patients on the BHU, including during a crisis event on the unit.
- Current State of Maine RN License
- BSN preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ in Psychiatric field
- Prior supervisory/leadership experience preferred.
- Clinical Ladder III or IV achieved preferred.
- Current MOAB, CPR BLS Healthcare Provider certification.
- Prior experience with insurance authorizations and continued stay reviews preferred
