Maine Medical Center is hiring a Full Time ED Patient Representative for the Day/Evening Shift. The position hours are 36 hours per week over three (12) hour shifts. Must be able to work every third weekend. This position offers competitive pay shift differentials!  

Position Summary

The ED Patient Representative provides the support necessary to all members of the Emergency Department Team to ensure that the patient receives timely and quality care experience. This position is crucial to the Emergency Department as it handles all phone calls and pages in and out of the department. The front desk needs to be staffed 24/7.

+ Greets and directs customers presenting to the inside workstations.

+ Responds to all incoming phone calls in a courteous and helpful manner

+ Places and documents outgoing calls and pages in a timely manner

+ Provides clerical support for ED physicians and nurses.

+ Works closely with the Emergency Department staff to facilitate patient flow.

+ Arranges transportation for discharged patients.

Position Summary
  • This position provides the support necessary to all members of the Emergency Department Team to ensure that the patient receives timely care experience.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
  • Education: High school education preferred.
  • License/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: N/A
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Interpersonal skills to deal effectively and compassionately with all types of patients and their families and a diverse group of physicians and other staff personnel as well as outside agencies and the general public.
  • Analytical abilities sufficient to identify problems, set priorities, make decisions and use sound judgement.
  • Ability to function efficiently and accurately and maintain a compassionate attitude in a highly stressful environment.
  • Computer skills.
