  • Position Summary
    • Central Sterile Supply Technicians are allied health professionals who are an integral part of the Surgical Services Team, functioning independently under minimal supervision. Ensures a safe working environment, equipment works properly and operative procedure is conducted under conditions that maximize patient safety and all standards of sterile processing and distribution.  Call required.
  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Education: High School education preferred. One year's related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience or ST/CST preferred.
    • License/Certifications: IAHCSMM Certified Registered Central Sterile Technician (CRCST) obtained within 18 months of hire.
    • Experience: See "Education"
    • Affiliation with Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation (AAMI) recommended.
    • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals and all documents produced from sterilizer manufacturers.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
    • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent.
    • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
