Position Summary

The Admissions Representative pre-admits and admits all admissions to Maine Medical Center Department of Outpatient Psychiatry. Admissions serves as the important first contact for patients. This position is vital to covering the front desk and providing support to two outpatient clinics, Monday-Thursday. The Admissions Representative determines insurance coverage, eligibility, and performs required pre-authorization procedures. The Admissions Representative ensures the accuracy of the patient’s medical record number and accuracy of demographic, financial and insurance information to maintain the integrity of the billing system. The Admissions Representative registers clients and scheduled follow up visits, collects co-payments, and maintains releases of information.

This position is vital to the front desk at 66 Bramhall Street, covering 2 Outpatient Clinics Monday-Thursday for 20 hours per week.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Education: High School diploma or equivalent preferred
  • License/Certifications: N/A
  • Experience: 1+ years in a customer service experience required. 6 months+ of receptionist experience in a health care setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of 3rd party insurance practices, managed care principles, as well as billing and regulatory requirements preferred
