Summary

  • Position Summary
    • The Clinical Nurse Leader (CNL) at Maine Medical Center (MMC) is Master's prepared, nationally certified nurse as defined by the AACN Role Description Practice Standards 2003.  The mission of the CLN is to assure the provision of expert, quality, evidence-based care for patients and families in a variety of practice settings. The CNL also provides leadership in  the development of staff, resources, and programs that support the MMC mission.  The CNL partners with health care  providers and management teams to develop and deliver quality health care to specific patient populations.

    • The NICU/CCN in The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital  is a 51 bed level lll-lV unit. This is the largest ICU in the state of Maine. We have single rooms with state of the art equipment and work closely with all disciplines- surgical, cardiac, GI, genetics, renal and  palliative care  We have Neonatologists and APP’s along with a nursing staff of 150. We have an active transport team and a nurse driven PICC Team.

  • Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
    • Masters degree required.
    • Clinical Nurse Leader certification required.
    • 3-5 years clinical experience required in NICU/CCN, prior to Masters prepared education.
    • Graduate from a Masters program in nursing with an AACN approved CNL curriculum.
    • Experience as registered nurse, knowledge base from CNL academic program.
    • Skillful communicator, problem solving, systems analysis, financial expertise, evidence based practice and research.
