Summary
Summary:
The Reagan Lab of the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) is looking for a Research Assistant III (Bachelor’s degree and 2+ years of related work experience) to join our team!
The Research Assistant III role conducts a variety of laboratory procedures under the general supervision of the Principal Investigator (PI) or the PI's designee. They will set up, operate, and maintain laboratory instruments and equipment, monitor experiments, make observations, and calculate and record results.
Research in the Reagan Lab focuses on understanding the roles that fat cells (adipocytes), bone cells (osteoblast lineage cells), and other cells in the bone marrow niche play in mediating the progression of Multiple Myeloma. In addition to local bone marrow interactions, we are also exploring metabolic and systemic host effects that may drive myeloma disease progression, and we are exploring ways to interfere in this process. The characterization of how and why bone marrow stromal cells are altered by cancer cells is another focus in my lab.
Excellent candidates with less than 2 years of laboratory experience may also be considered for a level I or II position.
This position is based on-site at our Scarborough, ME research lab.
The MaineHealth application, a cover letter, and a resume or CV are all required elements for application to this position.
