Summary:
The Center for Interdisciplinary & Population Health Research (CIPHR) in the MaineHealth Institute for Research (MHIR) seeks a Staff Scientist with quantitative methodological expertise in the design and analysis of clinical trials and observational studies. The Staff Scientist II will primarily work as a technical expert supporting clinical investigators in the design and analysis of research studies of acute care (60%). The Staff Scientist II will also be responsible for direct supervision and mentorship for a team of data analysts in CIPHR (20-30%). Other time can be used to conduct independent research, mentor trainees, professional development, or other responsibilities as negotiated. The successful candidate will have at least six years of experience in human studies research, including experience with collaborating with diverse investigators and projects, experience supervising research staff, and ability to manage multiple on-going projects. A terminal graduate degree (e.g. PhD, ScD) in a quantitative discipline (e.g. epidemiology, biostatistics, or similar) is required.
A fully remote (except from Alaska, California, Colorado, Nevada, Puerto Rico, or Washington D.C.) or flexible on-site/off-site work schedule from our Westbrook, ME offices is available for this position. There is an expectation of availability for meetings that can occur between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Eastern time.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education: Doctoral degree in relevant biomedical discipline.
- License/Certifications: N/A
- Experience: 5 years of experience as a scientist.
- Demonstrated ability to read, write, and speak English effectively
- Math skills, visual acuity, manual dexterity and a scientific acumen is required.
- Effective interpersonal skills.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Publications in research or significant project findings.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake independent research.
