MaineHealth Orthopedics is seeking a board eligible Orthopaedic Surgeon to participate in the one-year Trauma/Arthroplasty Fellowship. MaineHealth Orthopedics is a multi-disciplinary team of surgeons, physician assistants, nurse practitioners and administrative staff committed to providing the highest quality musculoskeletal care to patients using evidence-based measures. The Orthopedics practice is comprised of 3 Orthopaedic Trauma surgeons who support Maine Medical Center’s (MMC) Level One Trauma Program, 6 surgeons within the Joint Replacement Division, 2 surgeons in the Sports Medicine Program, one Hand surgeon, and one Foot and Ankle surgeon.

Qualifications:

  • MD/DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Graduate of an orthopaedics residency from an ACGME approved program

MaineHealth Maine Medical Center is Maine's only Level one Trauma Center and has one of the busiest orthopaedic trauma services in New England. From adult to geriatric to pediatric trauma, our surgeons at Orthopaedic Trauma and Fracture Care (OTFC) manage local and referral fracture care from all parts of Maine. Our joint replacement team has leaders in several advanced surgeries including the muscle sparing anterolateral approach for total hip replacement, they have pioneered outpatient joint replacement at the Joint Replacement Center in Portland and our Surgery Center in Scarborough. Periprosthetic fractures and revision cases are now commonly done at MMC, solidifying our position as the premier center in the state and region for these procedures. A recent Medicare study placed MMC among the top 1 percent of hospitals in a national survey for its quality of care on both hip and knee replacement surgeries, as measured by patient readmissions, complications, and cost of care.
