For a limited time MaineHealth is offering sign on bonuses for Registered Nurses: 

  • Registered Nurses - New Grads up to 2 years of experience: $10,000 (full time) 

  • Registered Nurses with more than 2 years of experience: $20,000 (full time) 

Eligible candidates are hired into a Full or Part time RN position. Bonus amount prorated for Part time hires, per diem hires are ineligible.  

Current MaineHealth member employees are ineligible; former MaineHealth Members are ineligible until greater than 6 months separation from employment.  

New Graduates Welcome 

This is an exciting opportunity for both experienced nurses, with no OR experience, or new graduate nurses, fresh out of school, to receive on the job training for perioperative nursing  

MULTIPLE OPENINGS TO JOIN OUR WINTER COHORT - Start Date will be in February 2025 

SMHC is looking for RNs that want to join the Operating Room/General Surgery team!  

The Peri-Op 101 Program – 6 months program for perioperative training.  

HOURS: 6:30am to 3:00pm – 5 days per week during training.  

As an Operating Room RN: 

  • Monitor, position and assist patient during procedure. 

  • Communicate all pertinent information with the surgical team continuously regarding patient condition in order to provide safe, reliable care. 

  • Interacting with and overseeing Surgical Technologist and other personnel in the Operating Room 

  • Use current OR technology and equipment 

Summary: 

The Registered Nurse II – Surgery Intern role is responsible for the management of patient care, including clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth/development, as well as the independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. 

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs) 

  1. Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred. 

  2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. ACLS certification preferred. 

  3. Experience: One year of acute care RN experience preferred. 

  4. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: N/A
