Behavioral Health Unit
The Inpatient Behavioral Health Unit in Sanford is a 40 bed, locked unit that provides a 24 hour treatment program designed to provide care for adults ages 18-95 in acute psychiatric crisis. The multidisciplinary team treats individuals experiencing major mental illnesses and addiction related problems. The program includes voluntary and involuntary levels of care.
Our team of mental health professionals plan and work together with the patient to provide psychiatric care, medical treatment, support, referral for follow-up care, and opportunities for learning and emotional growth.
Additionally, we have a full-time Nurse Educator on-site for additional support and further learning opportunities for all of our staff.
Full Time: (3) 12 hour shifts
Every 3rd Weekend Rotation

Position Summary
The Registered Nurse II - Acute Care – MMC BID SAN role is responsible for the management of patient care, including clinical nursing practice/caring, leadership, management, professionalism, and growth/development, as well as the independent assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care.
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs):
1. Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required; BSN preferred.
2. License/Certifications: Current applicable state(s) license as a Registered Professional Nurse required. Current BLS certification required or must obtain within 30 days of start date. ICU, SCU, ED and PACU RN’s require ACLS and PALS Certifications within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines.
3. OB, NICU RN’s require NRP Certification within one year of start date or in accordance with Department guidelines. Positions that are fully remote will not require BLS.
4. Experience: One year of RN experience required. Demonstrates competency in all essential functions of a Registered Nurse –Acute Care role.
5. Additional Skills/Requirements Required: Annual Electronic Fetal Monitoring competency for any RN assisting Laboring Women required.
