    A: MMC offers different employment options, both full-time and part-time shifts, as well as other types of employment, to fit a variety of schedules. These options include:

    • Full-time: 40 hours per week -- eligible for benefits
    • Part-time: 20 hours or more per week -- eligible for benefits
    • Per Diem: Employed on an as-needed basis.
    • Internship: Availability depends on departmental interest and course preparation.
    • Temporary: Assignments available for project work or extended absence coverage.

  • Q: What kind of support do you offer new leaders?

    A: When new leaders are hired, we are committed to effectively orienting them to MMC. Using the LEAD Competency-Based Development Plan we provide information, ongoing support and access to resources to acclimate new leaders to their roles. We arrange for MMC Leadership mentors to ensure that new leaders complete the LEAD orientation program within the first six months of hire into a management role.

  • Q: What is the process for new employees coming onboard?

    A: If you are offered Employment at Maine Medical Center…..

    1. Employment offers and start dates are contingent upon passing a post offer pre-placement medical and drug screening in our Employee Health Department, successful demonstration of eligibility to work in the United States, and successful results of a background investigation.

    2. Following your initial Employee Health appointment, you will be directed to the Human Resources Employment Office where you will complete the required employment documents:

    • Employee Emergency Information Data Sheet
    • State of Maine W-4 tax withholding form
    • Federal W-4 tax withholding form
    • I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification. Please note: this document requires you to provide original documents that establish both identity and employment eligibility (i.e., valid passport or current driver’s license and social security card).

    Individuals will be unable to begin work at MMC until all required documents and supporting documentation are submitted.

    3. We are MMC Orientation will be scheduled for the first day of your employment. Part II of your orientation will be scheduled within the first 30 days of your employment.
